Living in Evergreen
A mountain town in the foothills west of Denver, at about 7,000 feet, known for Evergreen Lake, a walkable historic downtown, elk in the meadows, and trailheads in every direction, with downtown Denver about 40 minutes away.
Evergreen feels like a real mountain town because it is one. You get pine forest, cool summer nights, and wildlife wandering through, while Denver, its airport, and its hospitals and employers are still within easy reach.
Close to home
- Evergreen Lake. Paddleboarding and kayaking in summer, and one of the largest outdoor ice-skating areas in the country in winter.
- Downtown Evergreen. A small, walkable main street along Bear Creek with coffee shops, restaurants, and local shops.
- Elk Meadow and Alderfer/Three Sisters parks. Miles of hiking and biking trails through meadows and pine forest, with elk sightings common.
- Mount Blue Sky and the high country. One of Colorado's fourteeners and its scenic byway are a short drive up the road.
